I am learning so much that I talk to everyone at the temple about them. I look forward to being able to put this in action in my own business. I use this knowledge in my marriage, family, with friends, and at work. I can see all the positive reasons why you can be successful and happy when we do the right things, make the right choices, and be faithful to the gospel.
However Long and Hard the Road by Jeffrey R. and Patricia T. Holland was an excellent talk. Sister Holland addressed in regards to a letter from a student who was not married or close to it and was calling Elder Holland out on the carpet. Elder Holland commented on the student’s sense of humor, and keeping a good attitude and keep moving forward.
Elder Holland talked about “Hanging in there.” Elder Holland talked about EXCELLENCE does not come quickly, not in being a student, nor being a missionary, nor in marriage. The definition of Excellence is It simply is truism that nothing very valuable can come without significant sacrifice and effort and patience on our part. How profound that we must work hard even as Adam had to in the beginning when He and Eve were cast out of the Garden of Eden.
IN “Looking Back and Moving Forward by President Thomas S. Monson said “I would encourage members of the church wherever they may be to show kindness and respect for all people everywhere. This reminded me of a quote by Ronald Regan, President of the United States and Actor, “If we love our country then we should love our countrymen.” It is the same simple principle.
Acton Hero – David Carrington – CEO, Racing USA.com, gave a powerful talk, too. David Carrington commented on Dale Earnhardts death and that everyone was jumping on the band wagon to make money on his death. Mr. Carrington told his people that sure, they could makes tons of money, but they were not going to profit on the families tragedy and they would sell them for the exact same price. I am not sure if he meant what he had listed them as or at the cost to make them. This showed he had integrity, love, and empathy and I am sure this is why his store is the now the most frequently shopped independently owned NASCAR store in the world. He showed integrity.
You Can Do Anything, by Taylor Richards, commented on Not Underestimating Yourself, Don’t doubt yourself, even when people tell you that you can’t start your own business. Ending with You Can Do Whatever You Set Your Mind Too! You can do Amazing things with the Lord.
